Dine With Dez Goes International & celebrates Black Excellence at the Met Gala

From Met Gala to Mexico: A global celebration of Black Excellence, community, and international cuisine

Hi Dine With Dez Family

On the eve of the 2025 Met Gala, Dine With Dez hosted a celebration of Black excellence, culture, and community that brought together leaders, tastemakers, and creatives in Brooklyn. The event was hosted by the iconic celebrity and fashion photographer Flo Ngala, honoring her groundbreaking work and contributions to the industry. Guests were immersed in a night of powerful storytelling, music, bold fashion, and unforgettable culinary experiences. In partnership with the Black Girls Archive, Dine With Dez proudly presented a special virtual installation during the dinner, exploring the 2025 Met Gala theme: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The immersive experience showcased the history and present evolution of Black dandyism—honoring its legacy, its resilience, and  undeniable influence on global fashion.

The guest list was as stylish as the dinner was delicious, featuring fashion icons and industry trailblazers including Alston Mason, Aweng Chuol, Miss Peppermint, Jazzelle Zanaughtti (Uglyworldwide), Satchel Lee, Alioune Fall, Armie Chandler, Robot Moonjuice, Jason Ve, and more. The event was captured by leading publications, including Forbes, The Knockturnal, Daily Front Row, and Nylon Magazine’s “Best Pre-Party Looks.” Each publication recognized it as one of the best moments of this year’s Met Gala season that combined culture and conversation with Black excellence and fashion taking center stage.

Dine With Dez Goes International in Todos Santos, Mexico

Dine With Dez is officially global! We had the pleasure of visiting Todos Santos, Mexico, a breathtaking desert oasis on the Baja California peninsula, where our co-founder Desmond invited some of our community friends & family to launch Dine With Dez International. We had the pleasure of being invited and hosted by Hidden Leaf Baja, a boutique retreat known for its holistic and culturally rooted experiences. The stay was filled with warmth, wellness, and an intimate setting designed to feel like home. As always, food was at the heart of it all—with flavors that widened our palates and deepened our connection to the country. If you ever find yourself in Todos Santos make sure to visit Oystera—a culinary gem nestled among local art galleries and fashion markets. Known as the Oyster Capital of Baja, Oystera serves up unforgettable dishes like fried oysters, soft shell crab sandwiches, and their infamous seafood ravioli—each bite a flavorful revelation.

Outside of Todos Santos, we stumbled upon a true hidden gem tucked away in El Pescadero: the Hierbabuena restaurant. This farm-to-table establishment is hyper-focused on nourishment, with cuisine inspired by its vibrant gardens, catch of the day, organic poultry from local breeders, and amazing wood-fired pizza.

From morning relaxations to making margaritas and salsa nights, this trip was the perfect fusion of rest, joy, and global connection. You can watch our journey at Hidden Leaf Baja in Todos Santos on our newest episode of Dine With Dez TV, Episode 8—now on YouTube.

Whether we’re hosting dinners in NYC or discovering new flavors abroad, Dine With Dez is here to build community, celebrate culture, and tell stories through food.

Stay tuned for our upcoming events—we can’t wait to dine with you again!

About

“Dine With Dez”, is conceptualized by Desmond Sam an experiential event producer, publicist, and entrepreneur from NYC with co-producer-partnership and experiential creative, Ramses Rubio. This collaboration began simply as an idea to elevate how we experience each other. We’ve noticed that it wasn’t nightlife as in clubs or parties that stimulated us in comparison to breaking bread with like-minded creatives. As we start with these intimate installments we will continue to build our community and broaden the conversations needed for a brighter tomorrow!
